GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
April 8, 2024
Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Commander Von Kempen.
Members present: 15
General Membership Meeting: Minutes read and approved as read.
House Committee Report: Read with no omissions or corrections and approved as
read.
Finance Officers Report: Albin was absent for the meeting, so Rick Kropf filled in and
gave a detailed report of all the balances on the five bank accounts with nothing out of
the ordinary. All balances are available on request at any time. Horn made a motion to
approve the report, Cortner 2nd and all else agreed. Motion carried.
Vets Home Report: Don Horn reported that volunteers are very much needed for all
activities at the home and snacks for the residents. Also needed are large towels, with
an opening cut out, for the residents to be used as bibs. A dog show is also being
planned.
Legion Riders Report: Dennis reported they did flag lines for three funerals, had a quilt
raffle at the last gun show at Divots, and now have a gun raffle for $20 a ticket.
Service Officers Report: None
Sick Call: Ron Benhke was reported to have fallen and needed doctor’s care.
Color Guard Report: Sgt. at Arms Pinnt reported there where three funerals in the
month of Febuary.
Unfinished Business: Received two applications for Boys State Scholarships from
LHNE, that will be sponsored by Larry Dinkel.
One application from Norfolk Catholic that will be sponsored by Post 16
Two applications from Norfolk Senior High with SAL sponsoring one of them.
Scholarships this year are $425 each.
Post 16 Birthday Party will be held March 16 at the Post with a meal and awards given
out for 50 – 60 and 70-year members. Pastor Moreno will be the speaker.
New Business: Another request was a scholarship for The Junior Law Cadet Program.
The request was made by David Rodriguez at a cost of $200. Kropf made a motion to
approve. McKeever 2nd and all else agreed motion carried.
With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm.
