General Members Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Commander Von Kampen

General Membership Meeting: Minutes read and approved as read
House Committee Report: Frevert gave the report with no omissions or corrections and approved as read
Finance Officer Albin gave a full report on all of Post 16 bank balances with nothing out of the ordinary. Horn made a motion to approve the report as read, Tjaden 2nd and all else agreed. Motion carried
Vets Home Report: Don Horn reported that volunteers are very much needed for all activities at the home and snacks for the residents. It’s the Legion families turn for Bingo for April, May and June at the home so funds of $30 a month will be needed for that. Plans are being made to take the Vets to he horseraces in Columbus in September, to the Norfolk stockcar races, and a Legion baseball game
Legion Riders Report: Dennis reported they did flag lines for three funerals. They had a quilt raffle at the gun show. The towels needed for the residents at the Vets home to make into bibs were delivered along with candy and popcorn. They will be attending the Loyalty Day celebration at the VFW with a bike show, and now have a gun raffle for $20 a ticket.
Service Officers Report: None
Sick Call: Ron Behnke is getting rehab, and also mentioned with health problems are Landkamer, Lichtenberg and Farabee
Color Guard Report: Sgt. at Arms Pinnt reported there were three funerals last month.
Unfinished Business: None
New Business: Proposed by the house committee was to add a leadership wall to the south wall below current serving officers of Post 16. The reason being to honor past commanders and members who went above and beyond their duties to improve Post 16. A motion was made by Kropf and Tjaden 2nd to make the south west corner of the meeting room also a wall of honor. All else agreed, motion carried.
Also was a request for a donation for a handicap exercise machine for the Vets Home. Kropf made a motion to donate $1000 for the request, McKeever 2nd and all else agreed. Motion carried.
Bob Huntley reported he would like Post 16 to be part of an ongoing appreciation to young men going to a military academy. This year there will be 4 attending. Total cost would be $150 per person which would be Post 16’s share. The ceremony will be May 18th at the VFW. A motion was made and 2nd to donate $150 from Post 16 for this request
With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:55 pm
