Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!. Fall is finally in the air, I believe. Even though I am not a cold weather fan it has been a nice change from the 100* days!! Also Autumn means FOOTBALL! ( sorry I just happen to be a big fan, GO BIG RED!!) I can’t forget about the Vikings–Skoul!! ( one of these years they will make it to the Super Bowl)
Our meeting, Sept. 5th, began with a special guest. One of our Girl Staters- Elizabeth Wicker. She is a Senior at Norfolk Public High School. She is inspiring to attend the Air Force Academy. We all wish her good luck in her endeavors. Elizabeth shared with us the many activities from her week at Girl State. Sounds like she was very busy but also enjoyed it very much. She met many new friends and will have many special memories to cherish.
The rest of the meeting mostly involved allocating funds to the various organizations that the American Legion Auxiliary support. After a little discussion the following is what we voted on for this coming year:
General: Presidents Project, NE State Life Membership, Aux. Emergency Fund, Child Welfare, Children of Warriors
National: Veterans Dollar Days, Nebr. Creative Arts Festival, Omaha Fisher House , Norfolk Vets Home.
We also support the Yanks Who Gave. The Nurses Scholarships were also approved.

UPCOMING EVENTS: Nov. 2nd- Dollar Days Dec. 8th Gifts for Yanks
The next meeting for ALA will be October 3rd at the Post Home in Norfolk. Have a wonderful September and remember to Fly Your Flag everyday if possible. God Bless America. (and GO BIG RED)
